Front gates and fences
The front boundary is the first thing people see. On period streets a painted timber gate and picket fence on a low brick wall suits the house. I make the gates and fence panels to size, hang the gates so they swing freely and paint them to finish.
Decking and garden steps
Where the garden sits lower than the house, a raised deck gives you a level space outside the back door, with steps down to the lawn. I build the frame, deck and steps, and can add storage underneath. Old decks that have weathered badly can be stripped and re-laid.
