Herringbone and wood floors
A herringbone floor depends on the setting out: the centre line, the borders and the cuts at the walls. I plan the layout before the first block goes down, so the pattern runs straight through the room and the doorways.
Plank floors, laminate and engineered wood are laid on a properly prepared, level subfloor with the right underlay, and finished with skirting or beading and thresholds.
Tiling
From a front porch to a kitchen splashback, a bathroom or the hearth of a fireplace, I tile walls and floors with neat grout lines and clean cuts around pipes, sockets and corners.
